AJ Joiner's all-time favorite thing was his grandmoh's Fish Fry.

Now that he's all grown up in Atlanta, GA, AJ is working a job he doesn't like and living in a neighborhood he doesn't love – at first.

But when gentrification threatens to strip the community of its authentic charm, AJ hosts a Fish Fry to get to know his neighbors, and he begins to fall in love with each one, despite their eccentricities.

But this tight-knit community doesn't have the money to fend off rich developers and determined city planners, helped by one of their own: Eddison Fisher.

So AJ decides to throw a second Fish Fry to raise some cash. Despite increasingly-serious issues with his health and his marriage, the event is a huge success.

But it's still not enough.

Can AJ and his new friends throw a Fish Fry big enough to save their neighborhood?

Or will Eddison and his outsider allies destroy everything they love about their home?

About the Author

Born and raised in a small town in Louisiana, AJ grew up with a love for his Louisiana culture and a passion for making big things happen. So after college, he packed up his Fleur de Lis and headed to the big city of Atlanta to chase his dreams of being a big-time entrepreneur.

But like many of his friends, AJ found himself caught up in a corporate career he didn't love, doing a job he didn't like, and felt something was missing.

He missed home. He missed the excitement of intimate gatherings, celebrating Creole food, Zydeco music and Louisiana culture, so he decided to throw a fish fry block party to reconnect with his roots, and celebrate with his  new-found Atlanta friends.

Little did he know that fish fry would become an urban legend. People came from all over the city to enjoy the festivities and the perfectly crisp fish. The party was so insane, it went viral on social media and helicopters from local police and news outlets were dispatched.

He nicknamed it: Life's a Fish & Then You Fry, but it became more widely known as the Atlanta Fish Fry.

Despite the grassroots success of the fish fry, AJ didn't let it distract him from his ultimate goal of entrepreneurship. Yes, he was proud to put his Louisiana roots on display for everyone to see, but he stayed on his grind, and eventually founded Blooksy.com - a writing platform that makes it easy for writers and academics  to publish their work.

Although he's busy chasing his dreams and inspiring others to do the same, he still loves a good ole fish fry, viral or not.
